Virginia Beach Mar 24 - 26 + 3

Went to Virginia Beach on the 24th. Not only couldn’t do much because of our colds, but actually stayed until the 29th. The original stay was only March 24th - 26th. We were both totally miserable! It was probably the worst cold either of us had in decades. We even went to Urgent Care to see if there was anything they could do (we were tested for Covid-19 there and both were negative). The doctor prescribed cough syrup and pills which ended up being useless. We stayed there all those days because we were too sick to do anything else.

We did get an opportunity to go visit the Battleship USS Wisconsin BB64. It was a nice tour, even though we were under the weather.

NOTE from the Usual Suspects text messenger:  /And today is a day of rest. Jerry has a cold, I'm getting there (sore throat), plus the weather: cold, rainy and miserable. Tomorrow we are leaving for Norfolk, hopefully Virginia Beach will treat us better weather-wise. / Not much better. Lilia and I both have a cold. We're almost at our destination at Virginia Beach. It is pouring down rain and has been raining all day./ Greetings from Norfolk. We dragged our sorry carcasses (colds and all) over to the USS Wisconsin and then to the Naval museum. What an experience! I'm always in awe at all the science, technology, ingenuity and imagination that have made this marvels of engineering possible. At the Naval museum Jerry received the royal treatment as a Nam vet. The docents were wonderful to us, they even gave him a book on the Vietnam War and a lapel pin that is usually given with great pomp and circumstance. After dinner we went looking for a pharmacy. The GPS gave us a tour of the city. I was just hoping it wouldn't take us to one of those stores where they have to keep the tooth paste under lock and key. It didn't. We got to see very nice neighborhoods before taking the highway to our abode in Virginia Beach. I guess that's all for the time being. Now we have to open the atlas and see what's next. / I am feeling better my friend, thank you. Jerry is taking a little longer to shake this cold and his cough is horrible, but I'm sure he will recover. /  Went to the Navy Museum called Hampton Roads Naval Museum and Hampton Roads Naval Historical Foundation. While we were there couple of gentleman gave me these lapel pin and and medallions. They were both in Vietnam. Also the USS Wisconsin battleship was tied up there to visit on. It was a nice day. / We are still on the road to recovery. Landlord said we could stay a couple more days because they had nobody booked. Going to make some progress real quick with this illness. / Slowly (very slowly) but surely we are on the mend. I guess we'll get our covid test results by tomorrow. Other than that, we are staying inside our room and going out only if it is absolutely necessary. Ughhh! / Yeah. It is a bit challenging but with an ancient microwave and kettle for coffee and tea we can manage. I'd love some Jewish Penicillin, but there is no stove here. Campbell's soup here I come! / OK Lu, what Jerry said was quite incoherent. What Jerry wanted to say ant the voice rekon feature messed up, is that we are very, very grateful for your kind offer. We are going to stay here until Tuesday and see what develops. If we are not better then we'll come home, but as you say, we are only six hours away, so between the two of us it is not a big deal. Thank you very much. We'll keep you posted. Cheers / We are both feeling about the same Maybe This Time leaning on the better side of the same. Don't feel like we're finished with it yet though. Lilia is trying to convince me to eat nutritional food. I'm going to have it all around me soon / Feeling better my friend. You know what they say, a cold with medicine will go away in a week, without medicine it will take seven days. / Badly needed. It is in the 30s here! Turned off the heater last night and we woke up in a meat closet. Brrr! / Okay, the story for today. I think we're actually feeling better finally. Unfortunately I still have quite a cough but it has diminished for now. / Sunny, cold and windy. We are still in isolation. We know is not covid, our tests came back negative, but we don't feel like going out. Jerry is very tired and I really don't want to risk picking up something else now that our immune systems are shaky. So I've been reading, knitting, watching tv and drinking tea. The world is coming to an end! Lilia doesn't even think of the classic Mexican cure: tequila and limes.
