Decided on the 29th to head on over to Kitty Hawk (actually Kill Devil Hills). Had a great Airbnb. Very upscale shore apartment hosted by Jeff. He is in the “Shrimp Boil” business and provided us with enough for two (it’s like a clambake). It was delicious. In fact, since we couldn't finish it for supper, Lilia ate the leftovers for breakfast. We were still a little under the weather so we didn’t do much. Went out to eat the second day. We would’ve stayed longer, but it was unavailable. By The Way, there are photos of a Roomba vacuum cleaner because this one was programmed to start at 11 am and clean the floor. Supposedly, it would leave its docking station, clean the floor and then return to the docking station. I found it stuck under the couch when we returned from our day (I think it was trying to shirk its duties).
When we were on our way to Newport, NC we stopped at the famous Wright Brother First Flight memorial. It was actually in Kill Devil Hills and not Kitty Hawk. Also, they took four flights that day and only stopped because the plane had become too damaged.
The ONLY photo taken during the flights in 1903.
NOTE from the Usual Suspects text messenger: Okay folks oh, we have arrived in Kitty Hawk. Even though the nice lady in Virginia Beach that we can stay another day we decided that the best
thing to do would be to get on the road again to see if we survive. The colds are diminishing unfortunately not rapidly enough. Other than that we're doing very well. This place we have a kitty Hawk is really nice it's the
downstairs area in a three-story beach house. Met the landlord already cuz I had a little trouble with the lock. His advertisement had offered some shrimp so I took him up on it. Nice place. Now if the temperature would
get out of the 40s maybe somebody could enjoy the beach but, right now it's 46 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be the same. The day after that is when it's supposed to get back up into the upper 50s and 60s. Wow oh, it's
about time. Your dad's amazing experience is already and we are really enjoying this trip. Lilia is doing all the work. She's an amazing person. / We made it to KH as you read in Jerry's message. This is a LOVELY place. Nice, clean, airy, full of light, all sorts of modern amenities, but
the best of all was the feast the host brought to our door: shrimp boil for two, I guess is a NC tradition. It was superb. We were not very hungry, but dug in like a pair of wolverines. There's some left for tomorrow's lunch.
We are on the mend, methinks. Cheers my friends!! Lots of love to all / On the Hatteras Ferry... and the show goes on! /
