Myrtle Beach, South Carolina April 4th - 8th

April 4th. After a pleasant drive, we arrived at our Airbnb The Boardwalk Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach. Since there was no front desk check-in needed, we unloaded the car and went to the room. We are in #135, privately owned. It is next to the beach and facing it. What an awesome place. The room is a suite with bedroom, kitchen and sitting room with doors to the balcony. We went out in search of groceries and late lunch. We found a small convenience/souvenir store close by. Then we walked to Jimmy John’s and got some delicious sandwiches and went back to the room and ate. It was just a little too cool to eat on the balcony. Slept well that night.

I got up at 5:30 on Tuesday the 5th and reserved a room near Charleston (April 8th - 10th) as Lilia would like to experience the Historic District. When the sun started to get up (I think it sleeps under the ocean) I got Lilia up. It was absolutely breath-taking. I was also wondering why the ocean doesn’t fall off the end of the earth, since it is flat?

We then had coffee and got ready to leave to go find some breakfast, souvenirs and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. We did those and also found Skywheel Myrtle Beach. After we came back to the resort, we went and picked up Jimmy John’s again. Went back to the room and then Lilia wanted to sit outside under the Palm Trees. I joined her later and we then went down to the water and froze our toes when we stuck them in. Back to the room and supper. Decided to stay in since it had started to rain and the temperature had dropped. Finished the evening updating this and filling out post cards. Did I happen to mention that it is pouring rain and the wind is howling right now? What an end to a beautiful day.

Here we are on the 6th 0f April, back at the resort by 5. We must be getting “elderly”. Why, back in the day - we would just start partying at 5. Oh well, look how much money and stupidity we save! Got out of here earlier today and went for a longer walk all the way to the further pier. This is s fishing pier. So we watched everyone catch nothing (well except for a five inch fish that was too short to keep). Walked some more on the boardwalk and I found an ice cream store to get a Black Cherry Milkshake, Mmmmmm! Then we were thinking about where to have supper so we decided on the other pier where there was a nice restaurant. I think it is named Pier 14. It was supposed to rain off and on all day, but it didn’t. Just got a bit colder so that is why we ended back in the room around 5. Thinking of eating at a German restaurant tomorrow.

Thursday April 7. Another beautiful day in Myrtle Beach. Actually got moving this morning and we took off for CVS to get some of the standard meds. They said they would be ready later. Just a bit cloudy this morning, but it has cleared up a lot. While at CVS, a lady was in line and had to show us her operation stitches form her Ovarian cyst removal procedure. Then to the UPS store where we mailed some more postcards. Next was the Hollywood Wax Museum. What a nice presentation! After spending the afternoon there, we went shopping at the Food Lion for some additional supplies. Hungry! So we went to the German Restaurant that interested Lilia. Cafe Old Vienna. Food was actually delicious and the ambiance was perfect!

NOTE from the Usual Suspects text messenger: Ok, we are here at Myrtle Beach. We are in a resort on the oceanfront. A really nice place and an Airbnb. It is the Boardwalk Resort. View from our patio to follow. It's a beautiful sunshiny day oh, just a little chilly. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 8 degrees warmer / And our own jacuzzi in our room. Evelyn, it is a little chilly for me but Lilia loves the temperature. It's about 60 degrees. She just took a walk down to the beach and probably stuck her toe in the water. I will probably venture out tomorrow when the temperature is in the 70s. See if I can actually make it to the water and stick my toe in. / We also have some outdoor swimming pools for those brave enough to get wet in the chilly Breeze. Oh I forgot we also have indoor swimming pool for those who don't like the breeze. / Maybe I can get Lilia to go in. Even though it will be in the 70s, it is still a little too chilly for me on the beach. She is still sleeping at this time. We are looking forward to an awesome day. / I might even get the blog actually published some time while we are here. Having that cold really set me back. I'll send the links to the blog when it's ready. / I'm usually up early. 5:30 is my regular time of getting up but I've been sleeping in for the past few days until this morning. Glad I got up early to see the sunrise. I woke up Lilia also. And they say it might rain today, but I kind of wonder. / Right now I'm lapping up the sun and sea breeze while Jerry finishes his preening. After that is a trek to the boardwalk, late lunch at Pier Something and then hoof it back to the hotel. If the weather allows, I might bring my book to the beach and just relax. / Having lunch at Pier 14 Restaurant & Fishing Pier with the Unabomber. / At that point I was quite freezing when the wind picked up and it was only around 76 degrees outside. On the other hand Lilia was sweating. Had a nice lunch over the beach and water on a pier. Of course maybe the black cherry milkshake I had during the day didn't help with my body temperature. Right now I'm sitting in the room and Lilia is outside in the lounge chair area. She's studying the maps to see where we might go after Charleston. She's thinking Savannah. So glad we're doing this as I am enjoying myself thoroughly.
