On The Road Again! 3-17-2022 thru 3-19-2022

March 17th 2022  -  The time has finally come to (Cont.)inue our adventures.

First stop is Washington, DC at the State Plaza HotelWe will be in Washington DC until the 19th

We arrived early afternoon and after checking in, went for a walk. The hotel is a short walk from the Lincoln Memorial. The weather was beautiful. The Cherry Blossoms were just beginning; some full bloom and some just thinking about it. Saturday the 20th is the first day of Cherry Blossom time in Washington.

Then we walked over to the White House. There were demonstrations going on in front the White House calling for support of Ukraine. Some of the sidewalks had been closed so we went around. The police presence in Washington is overwhelming!

We wandered the Washington Mall for awhile stopping by the MLK Memorial. Then to the FDR Memorial. We walked the Vietnam Memorial after walking along the Reflecting Pool. There was so much more! Going into our second day there, we hit the Washington Mall again. After visiting the Washington National Cathedral.

We went many other places, too many to mention. On March 19th as we were leaving, we went to Arlington Cemetery. We took a tour tram as it is very hilly and Lilia was worn out from all the walking in Washington. We also went to the Tomb of the Unknown Solder and witnessed a changing of the guard  and a local school placing a wreath.

Next stop: Staunton, Virginia

March 17, 2022 Belated Departure (blame it on the bossa nova)

Lilia and I are finally able to continue our exploration of life and cultures starting on March 17th, 2022. Having a taste of Europe and the West Coast of America, along with trains, cruises, taxis, Ubers, ferries and just plain walking, we are taking up where we left off when the "Great Covid House Arrest" occurred on March 16th of two years ago. This time we will use our own vehicle, a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, and drive down the East Coast as far as we can go (tip of Key West we hope).

For my mobility issues, I will use a Solax Transformer mobility scooter with remote control unfolding and folding.

On the way back, the thought is to drive up the West Coast of Florida as near the Gulf of Mexico as we can get. Once in the North of Florida and I am able, we will turn left and "Go West, Young Man" until we run out of land!

May 30th- June 6 - Cape Canaveral

Final stop before heading back. This Airbnb is one block from Canaveral beach and a short drive to Cocoa beach on the Atlantic Ocean. We go ...
